The Unified Carrier Registration is required if you plan to cross state lines transporting goods (private or for-hire) while exceeding 10,000 lbs, if you are a passenger carrier that operates a vehicle that will hold more than 10 passengers, and is also required if you are a freight broker or a freight forwarder.
Freight brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers that operate two vehicles or less pay the minimum fee. The fee schedule increases for carriers once you list 3 to 5 vehicles, it increases again at 6 to 20 vehicles, and increases again at 21 or more vehicles.
If you fall under one of the categories that are required to do the UCR and you are caught operating without submitting the registration you will be subject to fines and possibly additional penalties. Contact us and we can make sure your UCR is submitted in the system the same day we hear from you.
